SportsPodium is the baby that is growing up

I know it sounds a little weird, but to any of you that started a project or business, this will make sense. I have started many businesses, and they are like children to me. It is something about being there at the beginning that makes it very personal. I have been brought in to run businesses before, but that just was not the same. You still give it your all, but you are not as attached. And it is that attachment that makes it so hard to let go. But let go you have to or your business will die.

When we started running with this great idea that is SportsPodium in 2012, we had no idea where it will take us. NONE. But it was something that just felt right on so many levels, and so our little baby was born.

At the start there is that amazing energy of creation. The passion, the blue sky. Those first conversations you have starting to hone not your message, but what the heck this thing is in your own mind. And so we started working on it, first in our spare time, spending more energy and resources until at last, there she is, version 1.0. That was so exciting, we have a working prototype.

Walking nervously to the big meeting with the first people that would use the system was such a moment. I remember the low level bridge we drove over, the two little dogs that came to say hi as we got out.. And the moment when we shared our baby with the world and they SAID YES!

For two years we cared, nurtured and grew this idea into something tangible and real. But then we realised it is time to add people to the team. If our little baby is to become a grown up, it will need more than just us. Hence we brought in a bunch of incredible partners. Everyone was tough. Another step in letting go. Or so it felt. But after a while you start realising that growing a business is exactly that. Setting it free from your control. It is no longer about you! It is so much more.

SportsPodium now has a full time team of 5 people, a number of other resources that help us with various aspects and a number of incredible advisors and partners. Our baby is a teen, and ready to go out in the world. And so we did. Every person that joins us in talking about this amazing venture, that holds PODS or that speak to us on Telegram, Slack or other platforms is part of this now. The bird has flown is coop, and we hope that you will take as much joy out of this as we are.

I have often said it, this is not just a project. Not just another ICO. And definitely not just another business. This is a movement that will make a difference. Happy to have all of you aboard, and very happy to share our baby with you.
