Hi world!
My name is Waqiuddin. People called me Waqi. I'm 8 months old. Today, I would like to share with all of you about Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) which attacked me at age of 3 months old.

  1. What is Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP)?
Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is a bleeding disorder in which the immune system destroys platelets, which are necessary for normal blood clotting. People with the disease have too few platelets in the blood. ITP is sometimes called immune thrombocytopenic purpura or simply, immune thrombocytopenia.

  2. How long can you live with ITP?
The two types of ITP are acute (short-term) and chronic (long-lasting). Acute ITP is the most common form of the disorder. It usually lasts less than six months and mainly occurs in children. Chronic ITP lasts six months or longer.

  3. Can ITP go away on its own?
It typically occurs 1-6 weeks following an infection caused by a virus. This ITP is transient, meaning that the disease will go away on its own within weeks and months and will not return. Of children with ITP, 80-90% have acute ITP. ... 10 to 20% of children and the majority of adults have chronic ITP.

  4. What does IVIG do for ITP?
Uses of Intravenous Immunoglobulin. IVIG is used to treat various autoimmune, infectious, and idiopathic diseases. IVIG is an approved treatment for graft versus host disease and ITP. It is accepted for use in persons with Kawasaki disease, Guillain-Barré syndrome, and polymyositis/dermatomyositis.

  5. Is ITP life threathening?
Bleeding in the brain as a result of ITP is very rare, but can be life threatening if it occurs. In most cases, an autoimmune response is thought to cause ITP. ... But if you have ITP, your immune system attacks and destroys its own platelets.IMG_1238.JPG
