Against idolatry: All you Israelites, trust in the LORD— he is their help and shield. Psalm 115:9

Psalm 115 is a psalm dedicated to the glory of the only God, the God of Israel. The Psalm reminds us that God makes an alliance with the chosen people on Mount Horeb in the presence of Moses; and this pact begins with the prohibition of idolatry, there is only one God and only he must be worshiped. And this is important because the violation of the first commandment is the door to a life full of sins, false gods bring false teachings.
Idolatry was a serious problem throughout the history of the people of Israel. God warned the Kings of Israel and Judah through prophets about the danger of idolatry, but many of them married foreign women and brought the cults of foreign gods to their country, which brought divine punishment.
The message of Psalm 115 is very simple, the chosen people have only one wise and mighty God and he is in heaven; the fools fall in idolatry, and the false gods and idols made by human hands are a road to nowhere:
"No to us, LORD, not to us
but to your name be the glory,
because of your love and faithfulness.
Why do the nations say,
´Where is their God?´
Our God is in heaven;
he does whatever pleases him.
But their idols are silver and gold,
made by human hands.
They have mouths, but cannot speak,
eyes, but cannot see.
They have ears, but cannot hear,
noses, but cannot smell.
They have hands, but cannot feel,
feet, but cannot walk,
nor can they utter a sound with their throats.
Those who make them will be like them,
and so will all who trust in them." Psalm 115:1-8.

The Lord also tells us the psalm, is the strength and security of his devotees, God does not forsake his children: "All you Israelites, trust in the LORD—he is their help and shield." Psalm 115:9; and also: "You who fear him, trust in the LORD—he is their help and shield" Psalm 115:11.
