King Solomon and the idolatry: You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods. 1 Kings 11:2

After the finalization of the construction of the first temple in Jerusalem, the First Book of Kings relates that Solomon took more women as wives and concubines in addition to the daughter of Pharaoh, and these women were Moabites, Ammonites, and Hittites among others. This probably strengthened Solomon's political interests with foreign nations, creating alliances with more powerful states like Egypt, but this was the root of the serious events that would occur in the future.
And as a result of this strategic politic this caused King Solomon's heart to turn away from the spiritual gift of fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion, equanimity); because he cared more about satisfying the desires of his foreign wives and concubines who worshiped other gods, than about complying with the precepts of the law. Solomon allowed the introduction of idolatry, a sin that other kings of Judah and Israel would continue, after the political schism that occurred after his death.
This is how the Bible recounts Solomon's sin:
"King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women besides Pharaoh's daughter—Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites. They were from nations about which the LORD had told the Israelites, ´You must not intermarry with them, because they will surely turn your hearts after their gods.´ Nevertheless, Solomon held fast to them in love. He had seven hundred wives of royal birth and three hundred concubines, and his wives led him astray." 1 Kings 11:1-3.
The First Book of Kings relates that this displeased God, who had appeared to Solomon twice in dreams, and for this reason God prophesied to him that his kingdom would be divided in two. The Kingdom of Israel, due to this error of Solomon, would never be one again; this story is a demonstration that although wisdom is a blessing from God, no one, no matter how wise they are, is free from sin.
