You don't need to build a ridiculous wall to create jobs. I've heard that US highways are far inferior to China's, in terms of road conditions and traffic flow (e.g. more problems with traffic congestion near major cities, due to not having enough lanes on the highway and/or enough alternative routes) - why don't we focus more money/ jobs in that direction?
It will probably require just as much manpower, if not more, and could take even longer to complete. The difference is that it's actually USEFUL - it solves a real problem.
Why should we ever focus our collective attention in any direction other than OPTIMIZING our time and efforts? Why waste so much collective manpower and money on something that probably won't change things much, when we can use that same amount of energy to significantly improve our infrastructure, among other things that our country is sorely needing? Talk about distraction!
To me, priorities are clearly way out of wack, when, with all our glaring problems, our focus is solely on making it a little bit tougher for drug-runners to get their stuff into LA...maybe...but not really.
Yes jamesbrown, i agree

All of that might be true, but consider at least you can read road signs in America ! ! !
The Chinese are not that smart . . .
After all the Chinese are more about self promotion than functionality, just look at how dumb their computer keyboards are ! ! !
Worrying about what China is doing is a waste of everyone's time, we should be focusing on how to get honest politicians into public office . . .
