I hope that this is the hill upon which the illiberal left dies.
It's not even that great of a movie.
It's good. It's surprising well made given the budget. It's not a masterpiece.
At no point am I saying that you need to give the movie a positive review lest you be labeled a pedophile. You're allowed to give a bad review to any movie. I think that Atlas Shugged is a piss poor novel, and that the movie trilogy that was based upon it was hot garbage -- that doesn't make me a communist.
I'm also not saying that you can't criticize the ideas of a lot of the people involved. Jim Caviezel has said some weird stuff.
Most actors in Hollywood have said stupid shit and done horrible things. Directors too. Should the allegations against Bryan Singer in regard to sexual misconduct with underage boys lead people to say that Bohemian Rhapsody was a gay conspiracy movie? That's the level of stupid that people are reaching with Sound of Freedom.
Most of the criticisms that I'm reading from the leftists aren't about the quality of the movie.
If a movie that's against child rape is something that leftists feel the need to paint as radically right-wing, then call me radically right-wing. I would rather be labeled a Trump supporter than somebody who's soft on child diddlers.
By all means, die on this small hill. Die on the hill of insisting that we replace the word "pedophile" with "Minor Attracted Persons" out of concern for the feelings of pedophiles. Die on the hill upon which you insist that kids can consent to being sterilized before they hit puberty. Die on this hill upon which you're preaching that protecting the innocence of children is a radically right-wing endeavor.
If that's what you're preaching, there aren't enough child diddlers in the world to stand with you in defense of that hill. Hopefully, if you really do want to make that stand, there will be even fewer child diddlers left.
