Never trust your eyes

in illusions •  8 years ago

For most of us, seeing is believing, but when it comes to matters of vision, our eyes have a habit of deceiving us. Most of the decisions we make on a daily basis depend on the performance of our eyes. The way our eyes work reveal a great deal about how the brain interprets what we see and shapes our perception of reality.

Thing is, our visual system is way too limited to accurately process all of the information that our eyes take in, so it works on the basis of the most likely interpretation. In other works it sums ups both ideas and concepts in order to give us a general idea about something. This is the main reason you even clicked to view this post. Your brain did not process the image as it should. Rather it loaded up your basic cache from your hypothalamus in order to get you excited about sex, one of your primary functions as a human being. Congratulations. You have just experienced the science of visual clickbaits.

Unless feet is your "thing", the next time you come across something similar, think twice.

Please tag as nsfw, even if it's just feet. :-)

lol. why would i do that if is just feet?

Because I wouldn't want to see this pic on my screen while I'm at work. Anyone glancing at my screen would see the pic, and probably wouldn't bother to read the text.

@cyrano.witness

it is impossible to change the tag something after being submitted. I find the flagging unfair. Afterall the post was to demonstrate common visual misconceptions. Also I wanted to test the platform's response. Anws.

I have explained my reasons and I still think they're valid. I don't make the rules about editing posts after the 1st payout.

Very cool illusion!
