6 months ago, I drew this little witch on a piece of computer paper. I was sneaking the time in to draw her between tasks at work, and it gave me so much JOY to be drawing again.
So here I am, 6 months later, having drawn nearly every day since!
I should at least mention the material difference between the two. I used very different tools on the updated drawing. I felt it was still fair to use digital tools to compare against because they are representative of the investment I made in myself.
Before? Casual art. A doodle.
After? Look out world, Ashley’s taking herself seriously.

While it isn’t perfect, I’m extremely proud of how far I’ve come.
This went through multiple sketches before I landed on a pose and composition, but I accidentally erased the sketches before I exported them. On the bright side, my Procreate library looks very organized.

Another interesting comparison:
Maybe it would’ve been more appropriate to redraw this image...
This was my first drawing with my fancy new setup, and while I’m still pretty happy with the quality of it, it took me 9 hours and 17 minutes.
I mean, she’s cute, but she’s not THAT cute. (Fun fact: At the time, I was so nervous to share this drawing that I didn’t sleep all night.)
By comparison, my redrawn fire-witch-lady took just short of 2 hours.
That’s probably my greatest improvement over the last 6 months - I can finish a drawing in less than one full day. I’m expecting my gold medal in the mail any time now.

2 hours is a really good mark! Never underestimate your own improvement, even if you’re comparing yourself between only months apart. Amazing work!

Thank you so much! I'm really happy to still want to be doing it... usually my interest dries up after a little while 😅
