Imitation of God: Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant. 1 Timothy 6:17

The desires of the concupiscence, in particular the sin of greed, incline men to error, explains the apostle Paul: "Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.", 1 Timothy 6:9.
The love of money is a thirst that can never be quenched, it is like drinking saltwater from the sea: How much is enough? How far to accumulate?. The accumulation of money leads to concealment strategies, which multiplies the enemies and therefore the sins: "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.", 1 Timothy 6:10.
For this reason the apostle requests us to seek the true goods of life, the spiritual goods. The imitation of God is the base of life in grace: "Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.", 1 Timothy 6:17-18.

The search for true goods has a special reward, eternal life, the knowledge of God: "In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they make take hold of the life that is truly life.", 1 Timothy 6:19.
There is no greater reward for a life of constancy and devotion than the worship of wisdom: "Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.", John 4:19-24.
