Remembering Maria Montessori
She was an educator, pedagogue, scientist, doctor, psychiatrist, philosopher, psychologist and humanist.
She studied engineering at age 14, then biology and was finally accepted at the University of Rome, at the School of Medicine
She was interested in the education of children with mental deficiencies and applied experimental methods getting these children to learn to read and write. After that, developed her own method, The Montessori Method that she later applied to all kinds of children
The Montessori Method has been used around the world and although today her ideas seem obvious to us, at the time she created much controversy making children the protagonists of his own development
