Indonesia was again elected to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for the period 2018-2019. Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi wanted to make this as a momentum to make Indonesia in the front ranks.
"Alhamdulillah we can enter in category C and we will take advantage of this opportunity to improve the qualification of Indonesian maritime world to be the leader in order to give the benefit of society a lot," said Budi Karya via short message, Saturday (2/12/2017) morning.
Budi Karya is currently in Sabang to follow Sail Sabang. The former CEO of AP II was previously in London for four days to lead the Indonesian delegation in the 30th IMO Assembly trial. After the return of Budi Karya, the delegation was led by Indonesian Ambassador to Indonesia Rizal Sukma.
In previous occasions, Budi Karya said IMO became the world's mecca of international shipping. Any updates, be it safety regulations as well as more efficient new business models, are on IMO.
