The most important thing you listen to on a daily basis is your self-talk soundtrack. It's like a constant commentary in your head about yourself, how you look, and how you feel. It shapes everything about you, including your actions, feelings, and successes. Fortunately, there's a way to change the music that drives your self-talk.

You may have noticed that your self-talk resembles your preferred music genre. You might have a preference for mellow contemporary music, or you might prefer to listen to music with a more upbeat, fast-paced feel. However, your preference for a particular genre may be based on your upbringing, your social and educational experiences, and the media you consume.

In addition to listening to music that sets the mood, you may also want to check out the music that inspires you. Many people listen to music for motivational purposes or to motivate them to work out. A recent study by Heriot-Watt University asked 36,000 people to rate 104 different musical genres and provide their personality traits. The study showed that people who enjoy jazz, blues, and soul music are often more extroverted and self-confident.
