UK Wind Generation Falls

in increase •  8 years ago

The results from Q1 2016 are in and it shows a decrease in energy production from offshore and land based turbines. From the same period in 2015 power generation was increased 6.4% but overall each turbine was generating less power. The amount of wind and rainfall was reduced from numbers in 2015 and the additional power growth was generated from increased capacity.

Total UK renewable energy capacity reached 31.2 GW by the end of the first quarter of 2016, an 11.8% increase on the same period in 2015. But a 3.4% fall in overall electricity generation also boosted the share of renewable energy. Rapid growth in the renewable energy sector has recently been affected by reduced investor confidence following a series of policy roll-backs in 2015. Based upon wind for the most part in Q2 there should be good numbers on the table for the UK power sector.
