The birth anniversary of former President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan is celebrated as Teachers' Day in India.

Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was the second President of India and remembered for the great contribution of people across the country. The famous scholar asked people to celebrate their birthday as teacher's day. And since then, the first Teacher's Day has been celebrated on September 5, 1962.
