Patralekha Chatterjee (twitter: @patralekha2011) has written a summary report on India's recent efforts in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). It's an eye opener in the sense that with only 2.5% GDP spent on health, India sets ambitious goals of getting free of open defecation, providing piped water supply to every household and provide comprehensive secondary and tertiary care. Much of this is smoke and mirror and it is a good report to read how government programmes in third world countries often fool their citizens. Great job, the full report in Lancet here:
