In my real life i have always wanted to be a Journalist , Personally feel the media in my country is extremely corrupt and platforms like this will give a chance to really express their thoughts and feelings. SteemIT will allow people like me to really share thoughts on things that are happening around us. Need Feedback to improve
I would like to start with the events of Today The Mumbai Demonstrations
The first time in my life i saw city shut down due to dalit protest. I am supporter of the Government and Its parent organisations Rss but today made me introspect and think about the situation. The dalits were actually celebrating british victory over peshwa(Maratha rules over 200 years ago). Some of the ancestors were part of the British Army. They saw this as a symbol of dalit assertion. The dalits claim that some members of the Rss attacked them during their celebration in Koregaon pune. Living in a big city , Religon has had some role in the social fabric of the city and its violent history but caste has always been a non issue for most of us. I do not thin anyone in the city cares about caste in particular. This was the first glimpse how caste identity is still relevant even in today's India. It made me wonder how marginalized they feel and how poorly they must be treated during the peshwa rule who i always thought of as a hero. This event made me question history but also made me realize that it is very easy to infect minds of young people through identity politics .The British Opressed the rest of the population for many years to come , It made me wonder what a messed up situation . The person leading the demonstration was the grandson of the man who drafted our constitution and supporting those who were celebrating the victory of the British Army ?. This whole situation got me really confused about our politics over here. I can understand that Dalits feel marginalize and are often subject to mistreatment and social stigma but this was the most messed up political demonstration i ever saw. I did not know what to feel . I mean a person died in the end over something that happened 200 years ago , So in the end it was the British who really won , Even 200 years later they can still manage to divide out society on cast and communal lines.
