The state government of Andhra Pradesh is using blockchain technology for land registries. It is currently using it to maintain land records it's newest project "Amravati." This is a new city which will serve as it's capital.
The city is slated to be a smart city and will include a hyperloop connectivity to other bigger cities nearby such as Vijayawada.

Currently it's unknown if the changes made in land registries using blockchain technology will actually help in curbing red-tap and corruption. But it's likely to reduce the chance of fraud because all data related to land is recorded on-chain.
According to QZ who came out with a full report on Andhra Pradesh government's move forward with blockchain technology:
Now we don’t have the headache of hiring a document writer to prepare our papers. The records are generated and sent automatically to the registration office. With this new technology, there would be full security, no double registrations, no duplicates.
This will ensure in case of a dispute the records held by the actual owner can result in a stay by court, approvals for new construction of property on legitimate land, transfer of any duty paid on property etc.
Land registration and record maintenance is carried out on a privately owned blockchain by the Andhra Pradesh government for both residential and commercial properties.
This process eliminates the need for a document writer which itself was an expensive affair costing INR 5000 ($72). In addition to these things the registration can be wrapped up in a couple of hours where the land owner will get his certificate along with a unique QR code and map of the property. All of this will be prepared by the officials.
While other state governments such as Kerala are mulling use of blockchain technology, Andhra state government have already implemented it successfully. It remains to be seen how effective it is in killing corruption and bribery and if there will be an instance of fraud despite using blockchain technology.
Overall this is a sign of greater things to come in India. Hopefully, cryptocurrencies will also play a role in the future upon regulation and legalisation.

This could actually be great model for the rest of the country as well. If the project succeeds in offering the freedom from extra fees and chances of fraud, then other people would be willing to look into it as well. Truthfully speaking, I personally feel that the biggest advantage would be to not deal with the bureaucracy and bribery.
Go DLT!!!

Who is supporting Block chain Technology. One side Indian government is still opposing Bitcoin and block chain Technology.
Another side Indian states and educated persons are ready to adopt this technology.
Indian State government is still in fear about bitcoin or in fear about Scams.
Also would like to say thanks Zebi team, who are doing good to Expand Block Chain Technology in every possible way...
Thanks @firepower to sharing with Steemitians

A few months back, there are rumors (im not sure if its true) that I dian government ban the use of crypto in their citizens. And its a heavy blow to.our fellow cryptonians who are doing this business to earn something. But now, its a good news that they were using blockchain technology on their projects and accounts. That will definitely open the doors of crypro in India. 😊

The best thing for crypto is governments that start using it in different concepts and affairs. It let the government officials that control legislation become more comfortable with the idea of crypto.
In my opinion the biggest treat to crypto currencies are the banning of its use by goverments, like we have seen in China and India recently.
Therefore if those who pass legislation understand it better and are comfortable with the idea there will be much less counter legislation against crypto, which will be better for all of us!
Please feel free to comment your thoughts on this matter!
Keep on steeming...
