India IT Major Tech-Mahindra To Use Samsung's Nexledger Blockchain

The week begins with an exciting development with the Indian IT giant Tech-Mahindra joining forces with Samsung SDS. It will use Samsung's Nexledger blockchain technology to enter the overseas blockchain market according to a report in Korea.

"Samsung SDS agreed to cooperate with Tech Mahindra to expand the usage of the Nexledger platform overseas," the system integration arm of Samsung Group said.

It's evident from their new agreement that this move is to further solidify the base for both companies in this space. Tech-Mahindra will use this to capture the Indian market as well as the United States and Europe where it has a large clientele. It will also ensure businesses move to the Nexledger blockchain platform or upgrade existing systems to this.

Samsung SDS launched its enterprise blockchain security platform Nexledger in 2017.

It was designed to combine various customised features on commonly used open source blockchains such as IBM's business blockchain framework Hyperledger Fabric or Ethereum, the Nexledger has been used in finance, manufacturing, logistics and public sectors.

Mahindra has been training a large portion of it's workforce and upgrading their skills to meet future needs as reported earlier.

As part of its TechMNxt charter, Tech Mahindra is investing heavily in reskilling its employees in digital and next generation technologies like blockchain, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, and automation, and 5G. Tech Mahindra has reskilled employees through a four-tier internal training programme and partnerships with online education partners like Pluralsight, edX.org and FutureSkills.

According to a report in Business-Standard, Mahn Chey, President of Samsung SDS India said, "We are proud to announce our joint efforts to promote Nexledger in the global market with Tech Mahindra. As a company that believes in the value the blockchain technology will bring, Samsung SDS has dedicated its efforts to develop a blockchain platform, Nexledger, that meets the enterprise needs in the business sector. Together with Tech Mahindra, we look forward to delivering blockchain powered digital transformation to our clients."

Tech-Mahindra is the IT company part of India's Mahindra group. It has a clientele of about 900 companies across the world and more than 1,20,000 IT engineers working for it. These are some large numbers which it hopes to put to use.

Infact in recent times Tech-Mahindra has been in the news for some blockchain related tie-ups in India as well.

It is my expectation that in the next enterprise summit Tech-Mahindra is likely to show some of the use cases resulting from this merger. It seems to be on the right path in terms of expediting use of blockchain technologies.

It's likely majority of it's clientele will use this tech in the next 2-3 years if this pace of adoption continues across the industry and across all major verticals.
