India: Tech Mahindra Readying To Combat Spam Phone Calls With Blockchain Technology

Tech-Mahindra seems to be on a roll with their blockchain technology adoption. They are now looking at combating spam phone calls which is a major issue in India using blockchain technology.

This anti-spam call solution will make a big difference in India where millions of users are plagued with spam calls despite registering themselves in Do-Not-Disturb registry from TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India).

Leveraging blockchain tech will greatly reduce unsolicited commercial communication or UCC as it's known amongst subscribers in the country. The solution when it's deployed will affect over 300 million users and reduce spam calls.

According to Business TodayTech Mahindra had designed the Blockchain solution, in compliance with the regulations and guidelines of TRAI and the company along with Microsoft demonstrated to the regulator the proof of concept of this solution, which is meant to enable telecom providers in preventing unauthorised access of their subscribers' data.

As part of the TechMNxt charter, Tech Mahindra is "progressively investing in next generation technologies to cater to the customer's evolving and dynamic needs".

Overall this is a fantastic news for Blockchain use-case in the Indian context. I'm sure once the technology goes live many other countries may also benefit from Tech-Mahindra's deployment in their regions.

Recently Tech-Mahindra has tied up with Samsung SDS to take the latter's Nexledger blockchain tech to their clientele globally. The Indian IT major was also said to be working on putting together a blockchain division dedicated to working on the disruptive new tech which has become the new buzzword in Indian IT industry.

Looks like they finally adopted the technology they were kind of suspicious about when I left the organization to pursue my own blockchain based start-up.

Yes I have worked for Tech Mahindra for 2 years as an Associate Software Developer before going full time freelance.

I agree, this is a big problem.
I hope India manages to get away from these spam calls.

@firepower

That’s encouraging news. @firepower

Wonder what other companies in India 🇮🇳 are doing with blockchain.

Tata Motors’ Jaguar Land Rover is trialing a crypto payments product but, that’s in the UK 🇬🇧 & Ireland. 🇮🇪
