Bhagath sing garnered country wide recognition when in 1928 shot a British police John Saunders with his associate Shiva ram rajaguru.
They believed Scott was the main reason for the lathi charge on Indian nationalist leader Lal lajpat rai in which Rai was injured, and, two weeks after which, died of a heart attack.
They esacped from the scene and continued activities against the British rule with psuedonames. Singh was on exile for months and surfaced again in 1929 where with
another associate Batukeshwar Dutt, exploded two improvised bombs inside the Central court in Delhi.
Sources said there is a chance for the group to escape as the court was covered with smoke, but instead they only stood there.
They showered pamplets from the galleryaroumd inside the court and shouted slogans, and then allowed the authorities to arrest them. The arrest, and the resulting publicity, had the effect of bringing to light Singh's complicity in the John Saunders case.
During trial, In jail bhagat Singh gained much public sympathy after he joined fellow prisoner jatin Das in a hunger strike for better prison conditions for Indian prisoners. It's ended in Das's death from starvation in September 1929. After that Bhagat Singh was convicted and hanged in March 1931 when he was at aged 23.
Bhagat Singh is inspiration for all the student unions and youth. He is known for his atheism too. He became symbol for most of the Communists and right wings.
Bhagat said he held human life sacred beyond the words and against violence. But when there is an force which restricted the freedom, it's justified to to use violence for legitimate cause.
