Kashmir: Nehru’s manufactured dispute.

On January 1, 1948 India’s Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru approached the United Nations to solve the Kashmir imbroglio as per International law. But, was Jammu & Kashmir (J&K) really a dispute in 1948?

Maharaja Hari Singh, Kashmir’s ruler had accepted J&K to be a part of India, having signed an instrument of accession to India on October 26, 1947.

With the conditions obtaining at present in my State and great emergency of the situation as it exists, I have no option but to ask for help from Indian Dominion. I have accordingly decided to do so and I attach the Instrument of Accession for the acceptance by your Government

Kashmir: Mehbooba Mufti’s manufactured human rights violations?

An Indian Army major & his troops were referenced in a First Information Report (FIR) registered by the Jammu & Kashmir Police on the basis of a firing incident in Shopian district. As 2 persons died & 9 were injured, a case was registered under sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code.

Kashmir stone pelting.

Mehbooba Mufti, the Chief Minister of Kashmir claims that India’s Defense Minister, Nirmala Sitaraman had approved the filing of this FIR. Who really authorized the filing of the FIR?
Indian law permits an FIR to be filed against serving military personnel, only with the approval of the Defense Ministry.
Children of two army officers have moved the National Human Rights Commission, pleading for protection of army personnel's human rights that stone-pelters violate.
