All of us sure never drink good coffee chain at home and at a coffee shop. Or many among us who started the day with a cup of coffee in the morning. As night falls if the go with errands or jobs that require someone overtime would have been also accompanied with a cup of coffee.
The International Coffee Organization noted that the growth of coffee drinkers in Indonesia more than 8%, this figure is higher than the growth of coffee drinkers globally which is only 6%. Saat malam tiba jika di sibukkan dengan tugas atau pekerjaan yang mengharuskan seseorang lembur pastinya juga di temani dengan secangkir kopi.

Sejalan dengan hal ini, munculnya berbagai kedai kopi seakan semakin menegaskan fakta yang ada. Tidak hanya di pusat perbelanjaan, perkantoran dan kampus pun tak luput dari kemunculan kedai kopi.
Indonesia melalui Databoks mengeluarkan rilis mengenai konsumsi kopi Indonesia. Pada tahun 2016 saja, Indonesia menghabiskan 4,6 juta kantong kopi (60 kg). Pertanyaan yang kemudian muncul adalah bagaimana nasib ampas kopi yang dihasilkan dari industri kopi? Tidak hanya Indonesia, namun juga dunia.


MANFAAT AMPAS KOPI SEBAGAI SUMBER TENAGA KENDARAAN

Selama ini biasanya ampas kopi dijadikan sebagai penyubur tanah bagi tanaman. Namun banyak para peneliti terus meneliti keguanaan ampas kopi untuk keperluan lainnya, seperti mengubah ampas kopi menjadikan tenaga diesel nabati sebagai sumber tenaga untuk kendaraan.
Vesna Najdanovic, pakar di universitas Lancaster mengatakan, "Kami menggunakan proses yang disebut transestrifikasi, yang menggabungkan dua proses sekaligus, yaitu proses ekstraksi dan proses reaksi. Dalam dunia rekayasa kimia, bila kita menggabungkan dua proses pengembangan menjadi satu, ongkos pengolahan dan sekaligus ongkos investasinya menjadi lebih murah."


SEBAGAI BAHAN BAKAR DIESEL NABATI

Mobil dengan tenaga listrik saat ini sangat popular, tapi itu semua tidak membuat para peneliti hilang semangat. Menurut mereka, truk besar, lokomotif, dan kapal barang masih akan menggunakan mesin diesel. Karena itulah mereka yakin penemuan ini akan bisa mendatangkan keuntungan.
Peneliti di Polandia mengatakan bahwa mereka telah menemukan cara yang lebih mudah dalam mengolah timbunan plastik bekas menjadi minyak diesel nabati. Adam Handerek, inventor Polandia, mengatakan, "Semua orang tahu bahwa bahan polyethylene akan terurai menjadi rantai kimia yang lebih pendek bila terpapar suhu yang tinggi. Itu bukan hal baru. Namun yang menjadi tantangan adalah bagaimana memanaskan bahan polyethylene tanpa membuatnya terbakar di dalam reaktor."


KESIMPULAN

Seiring berjalannya waktu penemuan hebat terus bermunculan, salah satunya adalah penemuan tenaga diesel nabati dari ampas kopi yang sering kita minum sehari hari. Bahan bakar diesel nabati sudah pernah di uji coba dan berhasil memenuhi standar emisi di Eropa oleh Lembaga industri otomotif di Warsawa. Pabrik pertama bahan bakar diesel nabati itu akan dibuka pada awal tahun depan.
Mungkin beberapa tahun kedepan, kita tidak lagi minum kopi untuk diri kita sendiri tapi juga akan di minum oleh kendaraan yang kita kendarai.
