Regulatory effects

Many reports said the shake up of the cryptocurrency market was due to regulatory issues in several countries such as South Korea, restrictions on Japan, and restrictions on India.

Citing _Kompas_ online, regulatory issues in India mentioned to trigger the drop of various types of cryptocurrency. Indian Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the Indian government does not recognize the virtual currency as a legitimate means of payment. "The (Indian) government will take steps to reduce the use of crypto assets in the funding of illicit activities, including criminals," said Jaitley.

However, not once is this government in various countries voiced loudly against the use of cryptocurrency. Previously, some countries did not recognize cryptocurrency which caused its value to be red.

However, not long afterwards, back to the green line with a value that continues to set a new record. Will the repetition of that phase re-occur and the storm of crypto value soon passes. Hope so. At least, Steem and SBD show their might.

Berharap Badai Crypto Segera Berlalu

Begitulah antara lain meme yang beredar di dunia maya merespon pergerakan harga cryptocurrency dalam dua hari terakhir ini. Semua jenis crypto berada di jalur merah. Meme tersebut menggambarkan betapa jauh perbedaan di akhir 2017 dengan awal 2018. Seorang lelaki mampu membeli Lamborghini dengan harga BTC pada 2017 dan kemudian jatuh miskin pada awal 2018. Sebegitu burukkah situasinya?

Nilai terburuk

Melihat pergerakan BTC sebagai acuan cryptocurrency terbesar, memang sedang menukik tajam. Berdasarkan pantauan harga di CoinDesk dan Coingegko, nilai BTC pada posisi 2 Februari 2018 pukul 19:37 WIB berada pada kisaran Rp104 juta atau 7,773 USD. Nilai ini merupakan yang terburuk sejak November 2017.

Memasuki 2018, badai memang menghantam keperkasaan BTC yang sempat mencapai nilai hingga Rp201 juta atau 15,000 USD. Namun, nilainya terus merosot sampai ke Rp118 juta atau 8,810 USD, sampai kemudian turun lagi menjadi Rp104 juta.

Lemahnya nilai cryptocurrency juga terjadi pada Steem dan Steem Dolars (SBD). Pada pukul 7:42 SBD sudah turun sampai Rp36.524 atau 2,72 USD atau turun cukup dalam, yakni 42 persen. Sedangkan Steem seharga Rp43.606 (3.25 USD) atau merosot 36 persen.

Kondisi ini menyebabkan banyak Steemians yang terpaksa menahan semua persediaan SBD untuk menunggu harga naik kembali pada nilai ekonomis. Sedangkan Steemians cemas dengan kondisi ini, dan diperparah dengan berbagai berita miring seputar SBD yang akan diintervensi setara dengan 1 USD, langsung melepaskan SBD sebelum turun lebih tajam lagi.

Keputusan mana yang benar? Semuanya berpulang kepada Anda. Namun, tetap tenang setiap mengambil keputusan dengan mempertimbangkan berbagai aspek yang ada. Perlu diingat, bukan untuk pertama kali SBD turun sampai ke dasar sebab sebelumnya pernah setara bahkan di bawah 1 USD. Jadi, nilai Rp36.524 masih berada pada posisi yang tidak terlalu mencemaskan.

So, mau menahan atau melepas? Jangan ambil keputusan berdasarkan suara tokek, ya?   

Efek regulasi

Banyak pemberitaan menyebutkan, terguncangnya pasar cryptocurrency karena masalah regulasi di beberapa negara seperti Korea Selatan, pembatasan di Jepang, dan larangan di India.

Mengutip _Kompas_ online, masalah regulasi di India disebutkan menjadi pemicu anjloknya berbagai jenis cryptocurrency. Menteri Keuangan India, Arun Jaitley, menyatakan pemerintah India tidak mengakui mata uang virtual sebagai alat pembayaran yang sah. “Pemerintah (India) akan mengambil langkah guna mengurangi penggunaan aset kripto dalam pendanaan aktivitas terlarang, termasuk kriminal,” kata Jaitley.

Namun, bukan sekali ini pemerintah di berbagai negara bersuara keras terhadap penggunaan cryptocurrency. Sebelumnya, sejumlah negara tidak mengakui cryptocurrency yang menyebabkan nilainya menjadi merah. 

Namun, tidak lama kemudian, kembali ke jalur hijau dengan nilai yang terus membuat rekor baru. Akankah pengulangan fase itu kembali terjadi dan badai nilai crypto segera berlalu. Semoga demikian. Paling tidak, Steem dan SBD menunjukkan keperkasaannya.
