Legenda – Danau Toba
Legenda dari Sumatera Utara, indonesia
In a village in Sumatra, lived a farmer. He is a farmer who works diligently even though his agricultural land is not large. He can fulfill his needs from the results of his tireless work. Actually he is old enough to get married, but he still chooses to live alone. One sunny morning, the farmer was fishing in the river. "Hopefully today I get a big fish," the farmer muttered to himself. Moments after the hook was thrown, the hook was seen wobbling. He immediately pulled the hook. The farmer cheered for joy after getting a big enough fish.
He was amazed to see the beautiful color of fish scales. The scales of the fish are reddish yellow gold. Her two round and protruding eyes gave off an awe-inspiring glint. "Wait, don't eat me! I would be willing to accompany you if you don't eat me." That farmer was surprised to hear sound from that fish. He was so shocked, the fish he caught dropped to the ground. Then not long after, the fish changed into a beautiful girl. "Dream me?," muttered the farmer.
Don't be afraid sir, I'm also human like you. I am very indebted to you for saving me from the curse of the Gods," said the girl. "My name is Puteri, I don't mind being your wife," said the girl as if she was urgent. The farmer nodded. Then they become husband and wife. However, there is one promise that has been agreed upon, namely they cannot tell that the Princess's origins are from a fish. If the promise is broken there will be a terrible disaster.
After arriving at the village, the villagers saw a beautiful girl with the farmer in an uproar. "She might be an angel that fell from the sky," they muttered. Farmers feel very happy and peaceful. As a good husband, he continues to work to make a living by cultivating his fields and fields diligently and tenaciously. Because of his perseverance and tenacity, the farmer lived without any deficiencies in his life. Many people are jealous, and they spread bad suspicions that can bring down the success of farmers' businesses. "I know the farmer must be raising spirits! said one to his friend. This reached the ears of Farmer and Putri. But they didn't feel offended, they even worked harder.
A year later, Petan and his wife's happiness increased, because the Farmer's wife gave birth to a baby boy. He was given the name Putera. Their happiness does not make them forget themselves. Son grew up to be a healthy and strong child. He became a sweet boy but a bit naughty. He has one habit that astonishes his parents, namely always feeling hungry. Food that should be eaten three can eat alone.
Over time, the Son always annoyed his father. If asked to help parents work, he always refused. The farmer's wife always reminds the farmer to be patient with their child's behavior. "Yes, I will be patient, after all he is our child!" Farmer said to his wife. "Thank God, you think like that. Kanda is indeed a good husband and father," Puteri praised her husband.
As the people said, patience has its limit. This is experienced by the Farmer. One day, the Son was assigned to deliver food and drinks to the fields where his father was working. But the Son did not fulfill his duty. Farmers await the arrival of their children, while holding back thirst and hunger. He went straight home. He saw Putera playing ball. Farmers became angry while pinching his son's ear. "Children are not fortunate! Don't know yourself! You little fish!," the Farmer cursed without realizing that he had said the taboo word.
After the farmer said his words, immediately his wife and children disappeared. Without marks and traces. From the traces of his stamping on his feet, suddenly a very heavy and increasingly swift water gushed out. Farmers Village and surrounding villages were all submerged. The water overflows so high and wide that it forms a lake. And finally formed a lake. The lake was eventually known as Lake Toba. While the small island in the middle is known as Samosir Island.
