  • Entering the year 2018 the Philippine military especially the strength of the Navy continues to be improved.

A number of warships have been purchased by the Philippines from various countries and two warships are purchased from Indonesia.

The warship purchased by the Philippines from Indonesia is a ship made by PT PAL Indonesia, namely the ship type Strategic Sealift Vessel (SSV).

As a warship that has a body length of 123 meters and a width of 21.5 meters and weighs 10,300 tons, SSV can carry 500 troops and 121 crew, 20 tanks or ranpur and 2 helicopters.

To meet the needs of helicopters operated from SSV warships, the Philippines has purchased a number of Australian-made AugustaWestland AW159 Wildcat helicopters.

In order to arm the Navy combat helicopter, the Philpina government has also purchased a number of advanced Israeli anti-submarine missiles, Spike Non Line Of Sight (NLOS).

The NLOS Spike missile is known as an antikapal war missile suitable for AL fighter helicopters and has a range of up to 30 km.

High destructive warheads on NLOS Spike missiles have been designed to be able to completely destroy targets at sea level precisely and thoroughly.

To hit the target of armored warships, NLOS Spike missiles have also been specially designed so that they can break thickness of steel as thick as 4 cm.

Goals at long distance and in a hidden position can be easily hit by Spike missiles because it has been equipped with a navigation system (GPS) search target.

Therefore SSV warship made in Indonesia when purchased by the Philippines can become more powerful thanks to the main tool of weapons system (alutsista) in the form of heli fighters from Italy and the missile arms originated from Israel image
