India is a land of diversity. Our country has various languages, culture, tradition etc. various elements of Indian culture such as Indian books on philosophy, Indian cuisine, yoga etc. have created an impact all over the world. A country, rich in its heritage and cultures, but we are seeing fading of Indian culture at many places of the country, especially at the urban society of India.
"A person without the knowledge of his past history, origin & culture is a tree without roots. "
The effect of westernisation culture is greatly seen in our customs, tradition, social, moral behaviour, love and respect for others. These days a person loves to live in freedom, he does not want to bind himself in Indian customs and traditions. Day by day we see the breaking of joint families and more and more development of the nuclear family.
"Unity in diversity is the strength for country in which it exists."
Very few are interested in making adjustments and to share their things with other family members. Privacy is given greater importance and changes can also be seen in terms of respect given to elders these days. In this information age, people are too busy to care for others. Western culture has brought with it the seeds of selfishness in the minds of Indians.
These are contradictory to Indian culture which has always taught us to live in harmony with each other and respect everyone at home.
With the lack in experience of a nuclear family due to the absence of grandparents and working parents, a child fails to learn ethical and moral values. The child learns whatever he can grasp from his teachers and understands from the world. In this way, we bring up a child who has little ethical values and doesn't hesitate in doing any unfair practices, because no one is there to teach him the difference between the good or bad or stop him from doing something wrong.
It is very unfortunate that today's generation has very little knowledge about their culture, tradition & roots. This is not the child's mistake but the mistake of the parents upbringing, who do not teach their children about their rich culture and heritage.
"Indian culture is the mix of various traditional ceremonies and rituals."
We should know what is right and wrong for us. Western culture is not altogether bad, although it has made our life faster and enhanced technology has made our life easier and comfortable.
We need to give importance to our Indian culture which taught us to live in peace and harmony with other by increasing our tolerance and patience. Many people of other countries are realising the importance of Indian heritage and are adapting the goodness of Indian culture such as the practice of yoga, meditation, wisdom and teachings passed on by ancient saint and books etc. The knowledge of Indian wisdom helps human being of any races to enrich their lives.
No doubt the western culture is versatile and has taught us to be independent but this does not mean that we will forget our culture and blindly follow it all. We should feel proud that we are Indians and we have such a rich cultural heritage which is very valuable and we should carry it forward and impart the same to our new generation which will be our future.
