The Question Should Be How Are Straws Getting In The Ocean

Now this seems ridiculous, but it is in fact happening in a few states. Also Starbucks is taking it upon themselves to be the first to go straw less I doubt this is in all locations, but certainly in the states that have already put the ban on.

New York City, Hawaii, and California have pending straw ban legislation.
California: Alameda, Carmel, San Luis Obispo, Davis, Malibu, Manhattan Beach, Oakland, Richmond, and Berkeley
Washington: Seattle and Edmonds
New Jersey: Monmouth Beach
Florida: Miami Beach and Fort Myers

So this is no joke it's happening, but what is funny about all this is that it's all about the environment right? Well do these environmentalist understand that banning straws does not get to the core of the problem, the problem is waste banning straws just means we will have to use a different kind of plastic/product to replace the straw.

Starbucks says recyclable plastic lids will replace the straw... hmm so your assuming that people will recycle their plastic lids, when they could also recycle the straw.

Hyatt the hotel corporation is just going to piss customers off by not giving them straws unless they request it, hmmm large pop please.... (hands customer pop) (Costumer waits for Straw) (Costumer ask for straw) this would be the process almost 80 percent of the time. Unless of course you stay there regularly so you know to demand your straw.

Now these paper straws sound a little better, but the question is why were business not using them? Well to answer that with an opinion and not look anything up I would just suggest a few options;

  1. more expensive
  2. Worse then regular straws
  3. the customers really don't care

Now I did find that paper straws are a little more expensive so your 2 dollar pop at McDonald's would now be 2.25 or however much, this would turn people away from buying a pop so maybe now they will add cheaper ingredients to the pop and make it more unhealthy who knows.

I think the real question is why are these straws making it to the ocean to begin with because who owns the water? Well nobody, but in a free society we would have ocean homesteading where you could go out and build something on the water or underneath as long as it is fixed and permanent.

I just love to imagine what this earth would be like if we maximized our use of water, I mean we could be doing some amazing things with the water we could be having massive fish hatcheries etc.

Let's hope the government can.....Nvm let's hope that the government collapses and we can have a truly free society without using coercive measures to do things that are good.
