CRY THE BELOVED COUNTRY

For those with rose coloured glasses, don't read my post, you'll be in for a reality check. Politics is about my least favourite topic. But there's no denying the horror of what is happening in this country. South Africa is being destroyed by the thugs who run our government. I do not often post about the nightmare. When I do there is inevitably some smart-alec who, while never having set foot in South Africa, consider themselves an authority on the country, the history and the political situation. @breezin, who is in the thick of it compared to me, has really taken flack. Not only is her farm on the chopping block, but she has lost loved ones to the murderous masses and has a daily fight for her life and home. The milder comment "whites are getting what they deserve" not only expresses ignorance but total lack of compassion. Despite what many international readers may think this is not modern day Robin Hood. It is not about taking from the rich to give to the poor. This is not an issue of black versus white. It is an issue of righteous versus wicked. It is not right for the leader's of a country to insight violence and theft of land and inheritance. For those rabble that have succeeded in murdering the people and stealing their land this is what follows:

These are before and after shots of a once magnificent citrus plantation. You will notice that with the eviction (probable murder) of the white landowners those that took over have come in like the devouring locust Scripture speaks of. Their object only to steal, rob and destroy. While they call it "land expropriation without compensation" and blatantly lie to the UN and international courts, the leaders of the country, headed by the president himself, are crying "Kill the Boer, Kill the Farmer".

If only their objective were to provide housing, education, jobs and yes, equal opportunity for all. But it is not. They murder, rape and pillage then move on. Not only does a family lose their farm and livelihood - often their lives - but numerous families who live and work there are also without home and jobs. And here's the catch. Usually these employees are black. So you see, it is not simply about the black people taking from the whites to share among their people. The objective of the black elite is destruction, and they don't care what the casualties are. Black. White. Women. Children. Aged. So farms are being destroyed. People lose homes and jobs. And quickly the country is without food as the farmers have been killed and the abandoned farms no longer supply the market, both national and international.

Years ago I watched in horror the documentary made by a South African journalist who illegally smuggled himself and his hidden camera into and then out of Zimbabwe. He narrowly escaped with his life. He interviewed and filmed the destitute farmers of once magnificent plantations. He interviewed the employees who were destitute following the murder of their white employer. He filmed burned shells of farm houses. He filmed what remained of once great plantations; tea, tobacco, citrus, cotton. The most disturbing part was the horrific torturing and killing of innocent wild life. It was so visually disturbing that it still haunts me. It happened to Zimbabwe. When Zimbabwe saw it happen to Zambia they never thought it would happen to them. We never believed it would happen to civilized South Africa. But it has. And there is ample proof. I only hope and pray that it will stop before the country is totally destroyed.

So sad. It was once such a beautiful country, so full of promise.
I remember when I was at school in around 1985, a South African schoolboy came and spoke at our school in Sydney.
He described the situation of apartheid as like having a magnificent lion in a cage.
It really shouldn't be in a cage, but if you let it out it will eat you.

Well they let it out and now it is eating them and in the process destroying the country. Eventually the lion will die because there will be nothing left to eat!

While it is not politically correct to say so, it would have been far better for all concerned to keep the lion in the cage.

It frustrates me that things like this get boiled down to simple racism, when everyone is suffering. Racism is being screamed out everywhere as an excuse for violence and to create targets. Yet we are in the most inclusive period ever. What's happening in South Africa is tyranny. It's about time we stopped using past generations to find blame to put on other races and use it as an excuse to do the same and worse to people who had nothing to do with any historical atrocity. I can guarantee that every single race on this planet had ancestry which did deplorable things. So we're only playing a game of who was the worst.

I recently saw some graphs on world food production and Africa is the biggest producer of any continent and the smallest consumer. The whole world is going to feel it if this keeps happening to farms there.

My heart breaks for everyone struggling over there, no matter what their ancestry is.

I'm very sorry to have read this report, but I did read it all. The title caught my attention because I read that book when I was young. I should read it again.

Sorry to have upset your day @matthewdavid. I hate being the bearer of bad news, which is why most of my posts are upbeat. We have so much to be grateful for. We are truly blessed and it is not often the truth of our situation gets me down. But it grieves me that so few across the world actually know what is going on.

I'm glad you reported on it. It's good to know, even if it isn't good. The before and after pictures were especially telling.

I am aware of what is happening in beautiful South Africa. I would never have guessed that it would become a possibility there. How terribly naive of me.

It sickens my soul, knowing that any human could behave in this manner.

My heart, my soul... it is yours. Please, God. There must be a way to get to a safe place for them.

Upped a d steemed

Denise I think that there's a blanket of darkness thrown over reality. We aren't a country alone in this. There are many living under terrible and life threatening conditions but the world either turns a blind eye or lives in denial. I mean, let's face it, most of us simply cannot fathom such atrocities being a reality. Thank you for your kind heart

🎁 Hi @buckaroo! You have received 0.1 STEEM tip from @dswigle!

Sending tips with @tipU - how to guide :)

Buck, this makes my heart and soul hurt.

I really wish I had the resources to host you guys over here til all the politics blew over or til you could get back up over here.

Thanks for that @nateonsteemit. But I think we would feel like we were jumping ship. There are too many we would never leave behind. I just want the information to get out there. And we stay on our knees praying for the ship to turn, but if it doesn't trusting our Heavenly Father for His protection and direction

I had no idea!!! This is really shocking!!! Why is the government not doing anything about it???

Because the government is behind it @lenasveganliving. They are actually insighting the violence. The president on public SA TV is yelling "land grab! land grab!" and when called before the UN blatantly denied it

Oh my gosh!!! What's wrong with him???

Race-baiting and other tactics are enough pull almost anything off these days. A sad state of affairs indeed. Be safe, and if there is anything that we can do, please let us know.

Thank you @papa-pepper. Just pray for ABBA's Will to be done

OMG this is so very sad. What a horrible reality to look at the aftereffects of hatred and greed. Thank you for sharing the realities of what is happening over there. How widespread is this? Are only the rich farmers being targeted or any and all white farmers? I hope you are able to stay safe

Not at all! Not at all about discrimination between wealthy or poor farmers. It is totally a black on white attack. Although sadly there is even a black on black discrimination. The country has gone mad. Truly

:(

Howdy there buckaroo, this is so wrong but I'm so glad that you are sharing this. I'm late checking on your blog or I would have resteemed it earlier. Governments doing trade with South Africa need to demand changes and keep the pressure on them with sanctions to force them to change and then the whole world needs to see what's going on. You guys stay safe!

To be honest @janton, the SA government don't actually care. They have a strange mentality. If other countries stopped trade I don't believe it would improve the situation. Remember the beautiful farms that have been stolen are getting trashed and then abandoned. It is not about a better life it is about destroying what you don't understand and have been incited to hate. Such madness

Howdy this fine Sunday buckaroo! it sure is madness. Isn't the agricultural production way down because of the loss of farms? I mean, why doesn't some one work those farms when they take them over? The place is turning into a total basketcase.

Awww @buckaroo, I will never understand man's inhumanity against man! Black, white, orange, purple ... don't care... it's shameful and disheartening and so very sad. I follow the news less and less these days, but I must say that I have never seen anything on the plight in SA; somehow the world tends to forget most of Africa it seems when "things" are going on. But, I would never be so arrogant as to suggest that I know more about life there than you do, or @breezin for that matter.

The world is often a sad state of affairs.

A sad state indeed @lynncoyle1. It is quite disgusting that there is aggression towards one another because of skin colour. It also grieves me that the news is not generally known

There seems to be so much of "Africa" that is generally unknown ... Rwanda, Darfur...so sad. I remember teaching the state of Darfur to my students and they were shocked that they'd never seen it on the news. So much terrible happens around the world, but mainstream media just doesn't publicize it. Drives me crazy actually.

Oh @buckaroo! it must be so hard to see this horrible destruction happening in your country! It's so senseless and I can't figure out what they are trying to gain from it, if they are ruining their productive parts of the country, let alone all the civil unrest that must be happening with the murders and theft.
Are the supporters of the government, which is doing this, the majority?
Is there much uprising against it?
Here in Canada I had heard that they past the law that they will be expropriating the land without compensation, but that is all I have really heard.
It just breaks my heart to see all that destruction and senseless loss of life.
Do take care.
I did resteem to get a bit more exposure.

@porters I don't believe it is at all about gain. Their objective is merely destruction. There are groups, although not uprising against it, merely prepared to defend and protect ourselves when/if the time comes. A lot of the white farmers have fled the country, while they still could. You'll find many South Africans now living and working around the world. Australia, New Zealand, Europe, England, the US and Canada, even Asia and the Middle East, China and Korea or Dubai. Thanks for your support and concern

I have a hard time getting my mind around that, how people could do that to their fellow humans and are they so ignorant that they can't even see that it is their own destruction too!
I do hope you stay safe and that this will pass or be over thrown in some way or a separation from it.
