I think it depends on the good or bad use that is made of cruelty. Call cruelties well used (if the bad can be called good) ... Nicolás Machiavelli.
The policy used by the deceased and former president of the Republic Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías, was a carbon copy of the phrase betrayed, should not surprise the tight of the Italian writer Nicolás Maquiavelo comment to the also famous phrase of the Creole caudillo that "to be rich, it's bad! ", the Italian writer immortalized his comments on how to exercise political power in his controversial publication The Prince, in which chapter VIII we find this and other interesting observations that I think it would be useful to comment on where the deceased president came from Venezuelan, its way of doing politics and crown itself as the main cause of the political, economic and social catastrophe that today plagues the country with the greatest oil wealth in the world.
In his work Machiavelli exposes in a very simple and elementary the political trickery of holding on to power, which in his time used who for one reason or another came to the supreme political magistracy of divided Italy, we all know that Chávez read Machiavelli, he I mentioned it in those marathonic speeches that caused more than one back pain throughout his explanations, and he knew how to understand his ideas, for that reason we would be naive if we did not attribute to this understanding all the evil, all the cunning, and all the intricate plays in which he enveloped the nation, leaving all benefited, masterpieces of a sick mind of power, which we must painfully remember because, the underprivileged still do not understand what happened, as was the political scam in which they duped the town.
To explain the great political scam, we must assume that Chávez played the reverse policy, that is, he called the good evil - and - the good he called bad, which subsumed the principle of cruelty exposed by Machiavelli , well, one could ask: Being rich, is bad? Obviously, being rich is not bad, as it can be considered bad for every individual in society to have each and every one of the basic needs covered, to have money saved, to make investments and acquire products. of quality, because being rich is a subjective question, everyone is rich in the measure of their aspirations, being rich is not bad, on the contrary, being poor if it is bad? Who in their right mind wants to have unsatisfied needs ?, Who does not want to travel ?, Who does not want an ultimate model car ?, Who does not want a spacious and comfortable house ?, Who does not want all services to work ?, Who does not want full ownership of their property? Only people with poor minds do not want any of this, since, I remember a phrase that is at the entrance of the village Empedrao parish Manuel Morillo says; "The poor people, who think poor, will always be poor."
In his political game Chávez, he rewarded the mediocre and punished the excellent, promoted the last of the promotions and relegated the former, discarded the experts and used those who knew nothing, forbade the optimal and authorized the low, Chávez made of Venezuela a version of the world turned upside down, for example, allied with the most questioned rulers beginning with the Castros in Cuba until reaching Hussein in Iraq who was hanged, going through Ghadafi in Libya that was impaled, his praise went to the bad of world, but Chavez as a snake charmer convinced more than one Venezuelan that those were the good rulers, likewise he cursed Israel, he criticized the United States of America to the point of exhaustion, he bothered Colombia, he founded the opposition in Spain, of a Venezuelan convinced that those were the bad rulers, but nowadays it is demonstrated, that all that this caudillo criticized is the good, like capitalism and everything that praised is the bad thing, like socialism. Chávez must be interpreted the other way around, as we say in legal language with Latin locution, in contrario sensu, we must conclude that Chávez said, "Being rich, it's good!".
