Activists demand the reunification of separate families.
Through its "Zero tolerance" program, President Donald Trump's government separated children from their parents and deported them, leaving those infants in limbo.
In the face of it, District Judge Dana Sabraw said that the Trump administration is responsible for finding about 400 immigrant parents deported without their children.
Now, the Justice Department said in a judicial document that the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which represents parents in a collective lawsuit for family reunification, should take the lead in reunifying parents Deported with their children.
"The plaintiffs ' attorney must use its considerable resources and its network of law firms, NGOs, volunteers and others, along with the information that the defendants have provided (or will soon provide) to establish contact with potential class members. In foreign countries, "he considered the DOJ.
The administration suggested that the ACLU try to confirm whether the deported parents want to reconnect with their children or if they waive that option, he reported Politico.
This dismisses those claims of federal authorities that before deporting parents gave them the option to take their children.
The Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Kirstjen Nielsen, repeatedly stated that no parent was expelled from the U.S. without giving them the option to take their children with them.
However, according to Politico, an official of the Trump administration estimated that three quarters of the parents who left the country alone did not leave any documents that they had consented to leaving their children in the country.
"We don't see it in the documentation," said the officer.

The government of Donald Trump wants to resume as soon as possible the deportation of separated families in the south border.
This Wednesday the government asked a federal judge for a prompt decision on the temporary suspension of reunified immigrant families, since the magistrate's order causes problems in federal agencies.
In a hearing in a federal court in San Diego, Judge Dana Sabraw promised to adopt a resolution on the matter, although he did not concede a deadline, and meanwhile the cessation of deportations of reunified families was still in force and had been separated in the border with Mexico following the "zero tolerance" policy against illegal immigration.
Sabraw, who sees the allegation of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) against the government for family separation, ordered last month to suspend the expulsion of the country from the reunified families.
By telephone, government attorney Scott Stewart urgeded the judge to take a resolution soon since the deportations were frozen, as well as problems of space and the operations of the Office of Immigration and Customs (ICE) have accumulated.
"This is really starting to interfere with ICE's operations," he said.
