Only One Truth

Facts over fiction.

There is a thin line between the truth and your personal point of view in any matter, even if you are indeed speaking the truth. Having an opinion is good, if you ask me I would say it's necessary; I would prefer you to disagree with me than just have you nodding in agreement mainly because you have no idea what I am taking about. However one should always keep in mind that their opinion is somehow filtered in a unique way; we are all observers of the same truth, just from different angles.

And this leads us to interpret everything slightly differently than everyone else. A wise man once said that you can change reality just by changing the way you perceive the world; that's exactly the case with each and everyone of us. We have been manipulating our own reality along the way, coming from different walks of life, raised in different backgrounds, tortured by different hardships. We have been watching the same show from different seats.

As a result, we ended up reaching different conclusions. Blinded by our own perception of reality, we all came out of that room with a different story to tell. A different message received. A different lesson learned. Messages that would later shape the way we think and act, lessons that would become memories. Memories that would affect our beliefs in an effort to keep us safe from harm. Psychological strategies developed in order to help us find the fuel needed to keep going in this cold world. It is only reasonable.

I have a lot of respect for all human beings and it would be perfectly fine with me if you had an imaginary friend. Your own life is in your hands and you are the only one to decide what you like, love, admire or worship; however that's not the case when we are talking about society as a whole. We all need to be a lot more responsible when making decisions that would affect others as well. There is no room for subjective theories when we are talking about governance; there is only room for objective truths. Facts. Science.

This is the point where I explain the reason I wrote those three paragraphs in the beginning of this post. I respect your opinion and totally believe we are equal, no matter who you are. That means I don't think my own views are right and yours wrong, even in case we disagree. I just realize that everybody experiences their own version of reality and I'm perfectly fine with that. However that is not the case with the truth. There's only one version of the truth. Beliefs and subjective theories can't beat that. Governance should be based on objective truths.

It is true that everyone has a different perception of reality based on their own experiences and environment. This personal perspective effects how one perceives current existence and experience. It is best to try keep that in mind and respond with compassion and empathy as opposed to arguments and conflict.

You can change your perspective on gravity by hanging upside-down, to perceive things falling up, but does that disprove or undo the patterns, the principles, of gravity, or whatever we may want to call being like pulled towards the center of the earth?

You can't change your perspective regarding objective truths like the laws of physics. However that's not the case regarding subjective beliefs.

Where is the line between subjectivity and objectivity and is that line objective or subjective and according to who?

Scientific evidence draws that line. Data gathered through observation.

I wouldn't go that far! There's such a thing as a contradiction, where 2 things simply can't be true at the same time, and only one thing can be true at any one time, and some folks just believe the wrong thing.

Quite a lot of philosophizing can be fit into what you wrote, though. Things aren't just as simple as all that.
