The local authorities quickly determined that the attack was deliberate, and to their credit the two suspects were quickly "liquidated." But, this incident, near Danghara, south of Dushanbe serves as a stark reminder that westerners are NOT safe in majority Muslim countries, and probably should not be frequently out and about in them in a public fashion.
It's pretty simple, folks. If you are a Westerner and don't speak the language, and don't wear local garb, you stand out like a very sore thumb, and are an easy and primary target for the few Muslim radicals that do exist and do target Westerners in every Muslim nation.
Here is a link with more information on this attack on a cycling group:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-45004059
Here is an excerpt:
"The interior ministry said the suspects showed "resistance" during a special operation launched after the incident. Another person was arrested and a damaged car believed to have been involved was recovered. Reports in local media say the suspects were armed with knives and attacked the tourists after the car hit the cycling group."
While the vast majority of Muslims are --like people anywhere else-- peace-loving people who just want to live and let live, like the USA, there are a minority of insane lunatics who want to constantly foment war and create conflict. Taking your chances that you won't run into one of the wrong type of person while abroad is pretty stupid, if you ask me.
There are plenty of beautiful places here in North America, folks. Go see them all first....just my honest opinion.

Our tourist spots are full of Muslims as well. It was last year in NYC where jihadists ran down 8, nowhere is safe, especially no where that the average person can't carry a gun.

It's pretty safe in rural America still--for the most part. I haven't ever seen an obvious Muslim here, let alone a terroristic-looking one. (If there is such a thing.)

A few years ago I never used to see any and now they are all over. There is a weekly traffic jihad on Fridays.

Lovely. They better hope their crazier co-religionists never pull off a major terror attack that kills thousands on U.S. soil, or the innocent will pay in the ensuing bloodbath, I fear.

Only one teacher from that mosque near me has actually been convicted of terrorism charges so far that I know of. The one in Cambridge has like a dozen convicted.

mostly I feel bad for them, the school across the street has uniforms and everyone is wearing uniforms except for the Muslim girls in their crazy getups, it's bizarre. Funny how the Democrats want to build a coalition of gay rights activists and women's rights activists with advocates for a religion that utterly opposes women's and gay rights.
