Today I encountered a new way the big witnesses and developers of Steemit have found to silence opposing non-mainstream voices:
I wanted to reply to @cryptogee
in this post of mine:
and then this happened:
So I had to wait for my "Resource Credits" to refill before I was able to reply.
Meaning I have to SHUT UP or POWER UP or BUY more Steem if I don't want @cryptogee give the impression I am ignoring him/her.
Meanwhile as was to be foreseen and expected, a witness came by and flagged the post, making also the image with Dan Larimer's thoughts about the current state of Steemit, invisible:
It is clear that under the guidance of @timcliff and co the Big Ones of Steemit have found a very sneaky way to oppress opposing non-mainstream views on this platform.
They can say "But this is not censorship" - "You can click on a button to make a post visible"
Well they can effectively make you SHUT UP or PAY
Twitter and Facebook may try to censor and ban opposing non-mainstream opinions, but at least they are free.
After many hours I still could not post anything, went to steemd and it says this:
So i will power up a little of my Steem so that my "RC" allows me to react to people like @apogee.
it has nothing to do with your views. The Resource Credits reflect the cost of transactions on the blockchain and until you build up more RCs through Steem Power you need to carefully monitor how much of them you use.
As a rule of thumb, if you go to Steemd.com/@pagandance and check your RCs when they are at 100%, use about 20% of the available RCs every 24 hours

I think @pagandance surely is aware of how the RC's work, regardless...
It is stifling opinions... if it costs you money to play, new Steemians will not have the power to reply. (those new guys probably won't understand what an RC is)

well, if @pagandance is as familiar with the platform as you think, then his post is simply FUD. The RCs have no way of targeting anyone's views.
Steem, like any platform, game, app etc has to be learned. If a newb has managed to use up their RCs and really want to reply then they will do so when they recharge. It will be a lesson learned on conserving resources until you grow.

That's not going to help steemit grow is it? The RC's are perhaps needed, but they are set at a restrictive level for noobs, if we want this place to prosper, the level needs to change. Otherwise it will just be people like you & me that are left here. (That won't be fun) 😂
To simplify i would say that youtube, facebook & twitter would not have had parabolic growth it they charged people to make a comment.

like everything else when it comes to crypto . .there is a learning curve. The platform wont be suitable for everyone, that has been clear for the 2+ years I've been here. The audience is expanding but it will not do so rapidly.
The benefits of the RCs far outweigh the challenge of educating newbs on how to use the system. In some cases, like this one, the issue is more FUD than real.

These Resource Credits are PURE SHIT created by @timcliff and the other top Steemit abusers. You don't need "Resource Credits" on Youtube, Facebook or Twitter to post content or to post comments or replies.
Why should you have to pay for it on a platform that interests only a fraction of the people of the above social media?
It's just another trick to make people give up on this Steemit nonsense.

Well you do a great job of demonstrating your lack of understanding of the platform and disinterest in learning after @cryptothoughts very graciously suggested you do understand.
The RCs were developed by the blockchain development firm Steemit Inc which designed Steem in the first place. The top 20 Witnesses have to approve the code change. The benefits of the RCs far outweigh the disadvantages your whining not withstanding.
If you consider Steem to be nonsense, no one is chaining you to the blockchain. YouTube, Facebook and Twitter are not blockchains and actually do shut you down if they don't like your content.

@cryptothoughts is confirming my thoughts. Some people just can't read...
