It is an interesting conundrum that was presented, and sometimes I wonder what the result would be if the CSA would have been allowed to secede and become their own nation. Would the nation reform eventually? Would they work together in the world wars? Would there be trade and other traffic between them at a similar rate that we currently see between states?
I definitely agree that even if Lincon was torn on the constitution in some ways, he most definitely would not be happy with today's politics.
RC Jail?
The sad part was slavery would have become obsolete when machinery became available that would work cheaper than the overhead of the slaves.
I have relatives with Sherman, so I carry a union bias, but the south did have the Constitutional right to secede, in peace!
I also had relatives who came here as indentured servants (slaves by another name) so I see both sides of that too.
But I believe, that if the south had split peacefully, there would have grown a bond between those two nations that shared a common past, and there would have existed a preferred trade policy. They would have likely entered into a mutual defense pact too. That is logical!
RC Jail is where accounts end up when they run out of SBD and steem power, and the RC from the HF limits their access. Glad you are not in RC Jail, ROFLOL!

And yes I just dumped my savings into getting out of the steem delgation. It's all me now. Slowly but surely gonna build it back up I hope.
