A brief History of a Very large building in Tulsa Oklahoma, originally built to display oilfield equipment!

I have had several people ask about this building, so here is a little History on the largest inside open space available today. It also includes a Very large concrete statue called the Golden Driller south of the building since 1966.
@janton, here it is...Expo Square in Tulsa, Okla.

Here is the golden driller, when I said hi to him, the other day:

This building has a North and South wall that is a quarter of a Mile long, and with the external cables supporting the roof, it is a Very Large open space. It is large enough that it has it's own internal weather

They also have a national off road race inside this building, called the Chili bowl nationals. They build an off road track made from dirt inside the building, and race for a week. The only off road race not affected by rain....

well well well...if it ain't smithlabs...who is present physically but not mentally! lol.
This is a great post, I love it! What a tremendous building but it's hard to believe with all the amazing buildings in the world that it's the world's largest without interior supports.
I gotta get to that gun show someday! go in there with a big wad to spend.

Ahhh, the Texas Bigfoot survives, LOL! It is a huge space, and they keep it busy. Sometimes the split it in half, and do two different kinds of shows because it is hard to fill the whole thing.

When you get up here, and get inside for the gun show, you will see how big it really is, pretty impressive. They used to setup drilling rigs inside it....

All Texans are rich, so bring a big wad, LOL! Be ready to walk a LONG way, besides the building size, the last time I went, we had to park a quarter mile from the building, it really is a Big gun show!

wow sir smithlabs! The OK wonders never cease. I'll start saving up now and start putting the idea into Mrs. J so she can get used to the idea.

Just tell her you want to buy her a carry pistol.... :)

She will come! Then you can get yourself some goodies too, LOL. We can go to the range, and try them out after you get them. Fun stuff.

sir smithlabs! that place is so big they could have an indoor range in there too.
Someday I'll get there, might take awhile. lol.

Yes, an indoor range would be easy there, ROFLOL!

It won't be moving any time soon....

Come on down!

Wow that is impressive :)

It is a big place for sure. I have been t many shows there....

I went to an industrial trade show at the fairground last week; with heavy machinery on display. It took a couple of hours to review it all, but it was in a smaller building...not worth the big guy, LOL!
