Blasts Targeting Christians Kill Hundreds in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO, Sri Lanka — The clock hands on the steeple of St. Anthony’s Shrine were stuck at 8:45 a.m., the exact moment when the first suicide bomber’s explosion ripped through the wooden pews as Easter Sunday worshipers were praying.

Minutes later a second suicide blast shattered the Sunday brunch tranquillity at the Shangri-La Hotel’s Table One Restaurant, a favorite of foreign tourists.

Within a few hours on Sunday, suicide bombings hit three Catholic churches and three upscale hotels in the Indian Ocean island nation of Sri Lanka, still recovering from a quarter-century civil war in which the suicide bomb was pioneered.

Is this revenge for the New Zealand mosque shooting that killed 50 muslims that was perpetuated by a long nut job individual. In that case the government reacted by banning semi-auto guns even though it was just one crazy person that owned guns doing the shooting but government's always over react and make new laws restricting the freedoms of everyone as a result.

In this case you have seven crazy people that blew themselves up in an attack on Christianity and Western Culture. What should be the response to muslim extremism by the government? Banning bombs? Well clearly that wouldn't be effective as we've seen these muslim extremists use airplanes and automobiles to murder people in the past. Maybe the appropriate government over reaction here in Sri Lanka's case would be to ban muslims from their country. I don't believe this would be a good idea because I don't think all muslims are bad just like vast majority of gun owners are law-abiding citizens but this would probably prevent future bombs and islam is in dire need of major reforms since islamic countries treatment of women is horrible and not compatible with the laws in most democratic countries.

I'm no fan of the Catholic church because they have a huge problem with pedophile and sexual abuse among the leadership but Christianity as a whole has gone through major reforms and break up over the last 2000 years. Islam out of all the major religions is in the most dire need of reforms and break ups. Every majority muslim country in the world is a train wreck of human rights abuses and you always have crazy muslim extremists from these countries terrorizing non-muslim. Islam by far is most violent and extremists out of all the major religions. That's why it needs to be reformed. Certainly the government needs to investigate muslims that are calling for voilence or anyone of that matter that is preaching violence in the name of religion should not be tolerated in a peaceful society.

Sri Lanka blames local Islamist extremist group for Easter bombings that killed 290; U.S. offers FBI assistance in probe

The government says the attack was carried out by the National Thowheed Jamaath, a local Islamist militant group, with suspected international assistance.

you cant ban bombs. its easy to make them from for example fertilizers and some kind of pressurization like pipes with ends screwed shut.

you could only regulate mosques by funding only good ones and not ones that teach wahabism (ultra conservative extremism). ban the wahabi mosques their teachings go against islam. you could lower terroristic attacks if people took more efford understanding each others religion and getting to know people from other religion. how about pick up a quran and read maybe the first 2 sure (the first sure is 10 lines the next is like 30 pages). promote cross religious events. maybe churches organizing events with mosqes? and keep in mind there is also buddhism extremism and hindu extremism so include them aswell

When I first saw the news, I was so disappointed that despite trying to make the world a peaceful one, we still have monsters in human skin living among us. People kill because of Religion, same religion that was suppose to save us. This is real bad
