Introduction:
Innovation often begins with a simple idea, and sometimes, it takes years for that idea to find its way into reality. In this story, I'd like to share a journey that started with a concept from my mother - an invention to organize keys. We called it the "Key Selector." While this invention seemed like a distant dream for years, it finally found its path to becoming a tangible creation thanks to the convergence of technology and determination.

The Genesis of the Key Selector

Years ago, my mother conceived the idea of a device that could neatly organize keys and effortlessly dispense them upon command. She envisioned a future where you could speak the name of the key you needed, and it would magically appear. We affectionately named this concept the "Key Selector." However, despite the enthusiasm surrounding the idea, it remained unrealized for a long time.

A Confluence of Technology and Opportunity

Fast forward to more recent times when I acquired a 3D printer and completed a course on Tiny Machine Learning. The stars seemed to align as I realized that I had the tools and knowledge needed to breathe life into the Key Selector.

The Evolution of the Key Selector

Initially, I contemplated creating a compact, pocket-sized device to hold multiple keys. However, practicality led me in a different direction. I decided to design a larger wall-mounted body for the device, allowing it to hold just a few keys efficiently. You can find the main body of the Key Selector, screw conveyor, and motor holder in this link:

The Ingenious Key Dispensing Mechanism

The heart of the Key Selector is its ability to precisely dispense the right key when prompted. I recognized that keys come in various shapes and sizes, each with its own unique dimensions and holes. To tackle this challenge, I opted for a DC motor with a cleverly designed twisted conveyor-type end. When a specific key is requested, this motor activates, propelling the desired key into your hand. It's a simple yet ingenious solution that ensures the right key is always at your fingertips.

Potential Applications and Impact

While the Key Selector may not be practical for those with just a handful of keys on their keychain, it could be a game-changer for places like hotels that handle numerous keys on a daily basis. Imagine the efficiency and convenience this device could bring to such establishments.
