The Wisdom Of Listening To Nature - Animal Totems

in insectpub •  5 years ago

"Most animals that show up will apply to our life on more than a superficial level. The meanings are frequently multidimensional, reflecting things going on in our life on several levels. Begin by asking some significant questions:..."
Animal-Wise: The Spirit Language and Signs of Nature

It was the summer of 2018, and show up they did. This time, the numbers were too great to ignore. Over each of the previous two summers, I had a typical amount of ladybug visitors. Just a couple at a time, hanging around my windows. I'm always happy to see them. Only, this time, there were so many. Dozens of them in my apartment. For the most part, they stayed near my windows. But I would find them in every room. Crawling on the walls, the furniture. I even filmed the one above walking on my radio (see video).

The culmination of this visit manifested in a dream. Only two other times can I recall having a vivid dream involving animals. That was when my deceased childhood cat visited me on two different occasions. In this dream, I awoke to the feeling of movement under the bed covers. When I pulled them back, I saw thousands of ladybugs crawling over me and my bed. I awoke immediately and jumped out of bed. Freaked out, I pulled back the covers and was relieved to see no bugs. What is going on here?

"...What major issues have been occurring within our life?"
Animal-Wise: The Spirit Language and Signs of Nature

Insects represent adaptability and metamorphosis, or change. Labybugs specifically deal with the areas of wish fulfillment. So what wish was being unfulfilled? This was an easy one. At this point, I had been dreaming of a career change for a couple of years. Coincidentally, right around the time the ladybugs first showed up. Heck, I had already gone through the certification process to begin my new job. But I was hesitant.

What if I don't like it? What if I can't even do it? Could I crawl back to my old job? And then there's the financial part. Changing jobs would mean less money initially. But, the long term benefits would be far greater. So I kept putting it off. And the ladies kept coming back.

Well, last fall, I finally took the plunge. And I discovered that, not only could I do the job, but I enjoyed it immensely. This was one of the happiest and most satisfying years I've had in a long time. Here's the kicker...I have yet to see one ladybug in my apartment this summer. I guess I got the message.

Another one of your stories that gave me chills. A message was being sent to you for sure and I am glad that you finally got the message. I bet the ladies were glad too so they could move on to others like you.

Insects represent adaptability and metamorphosis, or change.

I do not handle change very well at all and the statement above is probably one of the reasons why I am overly fascinated with metamorphosis of insects. Thanks for giving me clarity Omra.
Wonderful story and I am so happy for you! Hugs!
Thanks for using #insectpub tag! : )

Thank you whatisnew! Change is difficult for many people. Including me. I've definitely become more fascinated with insects as I've gotten older. The diversity in the insect world is astounding.

And thanks for starting this tag!

An amusing little story. Happily it was a loveliness of ladybirds and not a swarm of locusts who decided to invite themselves to your crawly-friendly pad.

I'm glad you liked it. Thank you for all of your support!

I love that you went for what you wanted and have had happiness this past year.🤗 Here's to the coming years bringing you even more fulfillment and joy. 🍷

Seems the ladybugs felt the need to up the ante to get the message across. 😲 (I'm fairly certain I would have been clinging to the ceiling.)

Despite my history with ladybugs, I can admit that they are lovely (just not in swarms)! The dance of the lady's antenna and the cautious steps forward and back in your video was cute to see.

Thanks for the book recommendation. The author's name was bothering me because I knew that I'd seeen it before. Then it clicked. He wrote the book that was mentioned in your Dreamcatcher post. 😉

Thanks bris! Yeah, I have two of his books. He's written quite a few. They are cute, aren't they. ;)

@snook presented this at @pypt #pypt tonight.

She really enjoyed this post, and I LVOE these shots of ladybugs!

Thanks! They sure did like posing for me. :)

Glad the job turned out awesome.

We just kicked a wasp out. Didnt care to listen to what it had to say. And ants that hitch hiked in with the wood. Everything is alive.

Thank you. I once had carpenter ants living in a window sill. After I got rid of them, wasps moved in. Not sure which ones I preferred.

Loved this story. Being real is even better.
so happy you found a job you love!!!

Thank you snook! I just hope next time I get the message before I have another one of those dreams.
