Yellowjacket
Yellowjacket are commonly known as Wasps.
The different between Wasps and #yellowjacket , they hive below ground, predator on #insects ( eat on dead insects ) , kinda foraging.
Why are they call Yellowjacket? Their distinctive colors yellow and black strips on theirs body.
Their common size colonies are about 100 per hive.
Yellowjacket also have barb lance-like stingers which dislodged its venom.
Yellowjacket ground their's hive , one should be careful when doing mowing, if theirs hives are there.
As you can see, this one take back it's victim to its hive.

Way to many of these guys in B.C. , we had about 20 nests on our property . Thats definatly one thing i won't miss about Britsh Columbia.

Greta shots of them, I accident disturbed a nest of them many years ago and got attacked by them lucky I was a quick runner and there was a pond nearby so I only got stung about 7 or 8 times I reacted badly but would have been worse with more stings
