Spiritual insight in the bible: "If you are willing to listen, you will learn and become wise" Ben Sira 6:33

The beginning of beatitude is the desire to learn, and with the desire to be instructed comes the true spiritual life, says the master of wisdom Ben Sira, because with the instruction come wisdom and insight: "Devote all your time to studying the Lord's commands and thinking about them. He will give you the insight and wisdom you are looking for" Ben Sira 6:37.
The philosopher Plato maintained in his teachings that philosophical activity consists in the search for truth, the master of Wisdom Ben Sira also explains the same thing but not from the philosophy but from the gift of fear of God (constancy, firmness, devotion, equanimity, stability).
Master Ben Sira dedicated his life to the study of the wisdom and history of the people of Israel and like a father who leaves his son maxims, he teaches us what conduct a sensible man should have, the man who does not act out of passion, but that he seeks the true good in life, that is how he explains it:
"My child, you can learn if you want to. You can be clever if you are determined to be. If you are willing to listen, you will learn and become wise. Go where the old people are; find someone who is wise, and stay with him. Be ready to listen when religious people speak, and don't miss anything that shows insight. If you find someone with understanding, get up early to call on him; wear out his doorstep with your visits" Ben Sira 6:32-36.
The master of wisdom Ben Sira explains to us a principle, we learn by imitation, if we live with wise men we become wise, if we live with fools and idiots sooner or later we will become like them.
And as the Bible teaches, the like seeks the like: "Every living being keeps close to its own kind; and people associate with their own kind" Ben Sira 13:16.
