So the african countries aren't that poor as news depicted

in insight •  8 years ago

Mainstream news display African countries as starving countries, but that is only true for territories where the local government is cutting the facilities in rebel areas.
Volunteers and Aid organizations want to help those people in those rebel areas, but the local government doesn't want that, because those aids are prone to be attacked by rebels, which then means that the aids are indirectly helping the rebels.
The civilians do flee, but they flee to swamps and other hardly reachable areas instead of easy accessible areas, because those places are also easier to be attacked by the rebels, which then causes hardships for volunteers to find and deliver supplies to the them.
I heard all of this from my friend who is born in Kenya. The main solution to all this is to solve the conflicts between the government and the rebels.

Great article. I'm following you!

Thanks for your support. I am following you in return :)

Well poverty is far more evident though, even if you go in the big cities. In 10 days in Mozambique, staying in hotels and touristy destinations, the light went off twice and the water stopped working for an entire day!

That isn't actually that bad compared to what the refugees are facing, but I get your point. Thanks!
