Babe! Connor called. Tukwasi was out there at the back trying to tidy up her cooking. she picked up that passion after her husband had taught her a few things in the kitchen. She was a spoilt rich brat before she met him in their university days and together, they both had come to the Lord at a certain Youth Alive Conference.
'Baaabe!' He'd called out again, now she came to meet him in their room in fast, elegant strides. Her hair had been held up and you could see her cheek bone, a masterpiece design. She swayed her hips slightly as she walked towards him to take the phone, setting a tray of cookies she'd been baking on her makeup table.
Connor had noticed all of these within seconds. She truly a sight for sore eyes, she was beautiful in every way. Despite being married for eight blissful years, it always felt like yesterday to him. He loved this woman more than his own life.
'No! no! Connor no! It's for Ruthy!' Her 'ma-in-love' as she always referred to her mother in law was hollering in laughter. Theirs was a beautiful relationship.
'Ma, I'm fine', 'no, I'm eating healthy' Really? Don't bother yourself Mummy', 'Yes, he... Connor please check the Door'.
Still in the phone 'Yeah, I'm expecting Ruthy, her plane arrived 45minutes ago'. 'Awwwnn.. Ma she's the one, I'll talk to you soon. Love You!'
Ruthy is her childhood her relationship with her had been one of the only three relationship she was able to preserve from childhood. They'd done everything together till she moved to another city because of her job. She decided to come pay her a visit as soon as she got her leave approved.
It was a beautiful reunion! Connor warmly welcomed her, excused the girls and took her bag to the guest room.
'Babe!' You look good! Connor is doing a good job! Ruthy kept complimenting her. They dived straight into gists that could not wait while Tuks ate the cookie Ruthy brought for her.
Now that they had sufficiently unpacked some gist, they could settle Ruthy in, though this was like her house anyway. As Tuks stood up to go get Ruthy water, Ruthy had called out, a little alarmed,
Babe! You've got a stain.
Tuks didn't want the new development of seeing her period alter her so she waved it off, but few steps further, it dawned on her that she was not supposed to be mensurating. She was eight months pregnant for God's sake!
Her first reaction was fear. 'No, this cannot be happening again'. This would be the ninth miscarriage. Ruthy was calling Connor and as Tuks kept considering the possibility, more blood. She passed out and her husband rushed her to the hospital.
After she woke, they both went to the doctor's office when she was strong enough. The look on the doctor's face was not exactly encouraging. He is their family doctor, he knows their story.
He began to explain how the baby had been lost again and so on, at this point, she was distracted. She was reminded of how God had given her an assignment of sorts via Is. 8:18 back in the University, about the running topic in Church on the Authority of a Believer, on how she'd seen miracles performed by her hands, how she'd fought several family battles and won. She is a prayer machine, but the place where she needed to take hold of, she let herself be messed up over and over again.
She got very angry in her spirit, said out 'No! My baby is fine'! She stormed out of the office. Connor was a little embarrassed, his wife was never a violent person. He apologized and excused himself. He was an understanding husband, he took it that his wife trying to process the information.
When he got into their car, there was this look on Tuks' face. It was anger but not the type he knew, it seemed combined with confidence and a sense of emergency. Her eyes flamed, sort of, she was looking straight ahead and relaxed, he couldn't explain what was going on in Tuks' mind. He'd seen that look before. One time they'd received a call late in the night that his mom was paralyzed and already into coma, that look came on. She'd left their bedroom without saying a word and spent the night in their laundry room. She came out in the morning and went to make tea. Shortly after, he received a call that his mom had been revived and completely healed. He was over the moon but she was not perturbed. It was a little scary for him now he thought about it.
They drove home in silence. When they got home, Ruthy had gone out in official assignment. She went straight to their laundry room, exactly like she did the last time, only that this was evening time.
He was truly worried for her. He went to the kitchen to make her food in case she wants to eat. One time, he peeped into the room because he'd been hearing stuffs that looked like she was talking to somebody. When he saw her, her left hand was on her belly, she'd tied this mantle stuff they'd blessed at church that was said the deliver or do some supernatural stuff and her right hand was in the air, the fore finger pointing into thin air and the rest of the fingers clenched. It was the stance of a warrior in a battle or so it seemed..
