Today is the day that everything begins.

Time's tidewall crashes into
the dramatic locutions of Life.

Someone will become the sad victor
& extinguish the passion of the oaks.

Another will crawl through a red portal,
Their bright explorations only beginning.

Today is the day that everything breathes.

That soft filtration that hovers
Over a lotus pond—contentment.

No one remembered to stoke the furnace:
It continued to flare and churn.

A foreigner gesturing love through a mime,
Today is the day that we overcome time.

    Beautiful:

    "Today is the day that everything breathes.

    That soft filtration that hovers
    Over a lotus pond—contentment."

    There is an Arabic saying: 'contentment is an inexhaustible treasure'.

    And, contentment is found in living in the moment, the Eternal Now, which might be the only way to "overcome time' as the poem suggests...

    @d-pend - There is a flood of today is great kind of messages these days on social media but not one of them captures the essence of today as the point when we overcome Time as you do in this poem. I also loved the concept that even victory can be sad...

    This is a poem to make me smile:):):) Today is something new and different for everything in nature. Today brings us hope and fear, joy and sorrow. I like the last line the best,

    This totally original. I have never heard time to be described as a foreigner gesturing love through a mime. Time must be frustrated.
