Did you know that there is one simple trick, which can boost your IQ to as much as 25%? And the best part is if you do it daily for an entire year, you will see drastic improvements in every area of your life. This secret is keeping a journal.

I know I know. A lot of guys think journal and diary writing is girly and for women only. Not true! Guys can easily benefit from journal writing just as much as women can. But why is journal writing so effective for boosting IQ? What other benefits can it bring?

Journal Writing Stimulates the Mind

Journal writing helps to stimulate the mind and organize thoughts. It’s also a great thing to do for creativity. Famous philosophers and thinkers such as Newton, Einstein, and Jefferson all kept diaries. Not only does it help to stimulate imagination and creativity, but it also allows you to vent off steam.

Venting off steam is very important because if we are constantly holding in our anger, fears, regrets, etc. it could damage our health in the long run. Writing out what you feel gets rid of those unhealthy emotions, which allows you to live in the moment.

3 Million Pages of Notes

Thomas Edison also kept 3 million pages of notes throughout his life. Even though Stephen Hawking is physically unable to keep ideas in a journal, he still records his theories and personal reflections in technology. Is it possible that journal writing can get rid of disease or even prolong life? It’s an interesting idea to think about.

The Deeper Picture

Even if your journal is cluttered with nonsense, it will still help you. The point is to write whatever comes to your mind. You see, the thoughts we think are just the surface. They are just the beginning of what is going on deeper in our subconscious minds. When we write, we have the ability to bring out those ideas and all that clutter on to paper.

Just a Half an Hour a Day

A lot of good can come from this. We can observe certain patterns of thinking or ways of behaving that hold us back from achieving our true potential. Even if it’s just a half an hour a day, can you imagine the kinds of things journal writing can do for you?

Don’t make time an issue. We all have an extra half an hour and journal writing is so much for our health. Make time for it and get into a habit of it. You’ll start see how drastically it makes a difference in your life.

Interesting. So how can keeping a journal improve your IQ? Because it relieves us of suppressed emotions?

On a sidenote, I don't think Stephen Hawkins is recording theories anymore. He died on Pi-day.

I think it improves IQ because you can get a lot of your ideas and feelings out on paper. Also it does help with suppressed emotions, and getting rid of those allows us to think more clearly.
