The Song of Songs or the Song of Solomon is a book that metaphorically tells us about the love between two lovers. This book, due to its narration about the nature of the love of lovers, does not seem to have much relationship with the other books of the Bible, but it must be taken into account that many prophets such as Hosea and Jeremiah described the relationship between Israel and God as a relationship of wife and husband, like when the Lord commanded Hosea to take a wife: "Love her as the LORD loves the Israelites, though they turn to other gods and love the sacred raisin cakes" Hosea 3:1. The pact between Israel and God is a pact of love and the book can be interpreted as a beautiful memory of this love that must be corresponded between the beloved. This book is also highly valued in the Christian religion because it recalls the love of Christ towards the Church.
The book does not tell us anything about who the lovers are, it only makes a small mention of King Solomon, who is credited with the authoring of the book; but the interesting is that the book tells us of a passionate, edifying, beautiful, and pure love, where the lover and the beloved want to unite ardently; and so the book tells us about this love with an inspirational quote: "I belong to my beloved, and his desire is for me" Song of Solomon 7:10.
But the book with wisdom wants to transmit also an interesting thought , this is how the book describes the supremacy of love, a love that is beyond any material wealth, even above death, and that reminds us of the precept on love in Deuteronomy (Deuteronomy 6:5):
"Set me as a seal upon your heart,
as a seal upon your arm,
for love is strong as death,
jealousy is fierce as the grave.
Its flashes are flashes of fire,
the very flame of the LORD.
Many waters cannot quench love,
neither can floods drown it.
If a man offered for love
all the wealth of his house,
he would be utterly despised" Song of Solomon 8:6-7.
