The Knock at The Door – God’s Word Today & Thoughts to Ponder

 God’s Word Today:Revelation 3:20 NCV

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and eat with you, and you will eat with me.

 Thoughts to Ponder:

A knock at the door of a house would usually get the attention of its occupants.

The natural reaction is to check who is on the other side of the door. Upon verifying identity either by listening or looking, a person is then granted access.

An expected visitor is hurriedly welcomed with open arms. And if it’s a VIP, occupants tend to tidy up the house just before opening the door.

It’s quiet common, to most cultures, for visitors to be invited to join a meal. It’s a gesture to show that the visit is warmly received and appreciated.

A meal would give sustenance physically to do other activities afterwards. It would also strengthen the relationship between a host and a visitor.

Based on these we can say the following:

• Jesus is knocking at the door of our hearts (lives) today. Not tomorrow or the next day.
• Let us listen and recognize His familiar voice (call). To be familiar is learn more about Him through reading of God’s Word and prayer.
• Let us give Him access to our hearts (lives). No matter what kind of condition our hearts and lives are in now, let Him in.
• He wants us to have strength for what’s ahead.
• He wants us to have a stronger bond with Him.

Today, let us receive warmly our heavenly visitor.

Let us show our appreciation by letting Him stay – not just for a few hours, but for the rest of our lives.

Dear Father,

We have recognized the familiar voice of Jesus.

We now welcome Him into our hearts.

Please stay in our lives and change us that we may bear His love and grace everyday.
