During the Great Chicago Fire of October 1871, Horatio G. Spafford was one of the very wealthy men of Chicago, lost all he had. So he decided to send his family (his wife and four teenage daughters) to England to rest and recuperate from the devastating trauma of the loss.
After his family had travelled, he stayed behind to join the International Red Cross Society to rehabilitate people, however, like the mighty RMS Titanic, a terrible storm struck their ship, breaking it into pieces. His wife, Mrs. Anne Spafford and his three daughters hung to little pieces of the ship's parts for hours; but as the storm raged on stronger, before help came, she watched each of her teenage daughters, slip into the depth of the deep blue ocean. Finally, she was rescued alive, and taken to shore where she sent her husband a telegram immediately with these words, "Saved alone, what shall I do?."
On receiving the news, Horatio G. Spafford a Christian, did not commit suicide, he did not curse God or develop hypertension, instead he took time to pray and in the process received inspiration to write the award-winning inspirational song: "It is well with my soul." which has inspired millions of people all over the world. This song was written by Horatio G. Spafford In his great distress.
If you find yourself in the valley of life; during betrayals by close ones; or in the season of pain; never stop smiling and singing.
Never stop talking about how wonderful your future is. Always put on a positive attitude and mindset.
Some people are always grumbling because roses have thorns; I am thankful that thorns have roses. - Alphonse Karr.
