In this new video Neil deGrasse Tyson explains, among other things, how the idea of the five dimensions is key to understanding the end of Interstellar and what happens to Coop (the protagonist played by McConaughey) when he enters the black hole. There, Coop experiences the five dimensions. The three dimensions of space (width, height and depth), a fourth dimension of time and then a mysterious fifth dimension. That fifth dimension is not understandable, unless we accept the fact that, once it is there, time becomes for him a spatial dimension like the first three. This is how Coop can travel (rather, interact) over time and can get in touch with Murph in the past to change his future. In any case, deGrasse Tyson says that this is only theory and more fiction than science since today it is impossible to know what happens in a black hole, much less if within eons (periods of time in which it develops a universe) a more advanced humanity can ever create a portal with these characteristics. Furthermore, even if it is in a higher dimension it turns time into a spatial magnitude, deGrasse Tyson doubts that the past could be changed. The astrophysicist, host of the Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey program, has already done a thorough review of Nolan's film on Twitter a few days ago. In his tweets, deGrasse Tyson criticized some weaknesses of the plot - especially the fact that any planet that orbits near a black hole can be a candidate to harbor life - but also distributed not a few compliments for the film. "Interstellar recreates the experience of the relativity of Einstein's time as no other film has shown it," said the astrophysicist who recommended the book 'The Science of Interstellar', by Kip Thorne - the theoretical physicist on whose theories Nolan relied on to arm the plot - to try to understand the movie better. Intestellar has raised to date more than 322 million dollars in cinemas around the world. The film stars the aforementioned McConaughey, the last Oscar winner for best actor for his work at Dallas Buyers Club, along with Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Wes Bentley, Mackenzie Foy, Casey Affleck, Sir Michael Caine and Matt Damon.
