Many years ago ,specifically in the 90s, some lager beers entered the Nigerian market with pomp and pageantry and instantly became champions in the hearts of local consumers. Such was the case with Kronebourg Beer,Crystal Beer,Top Beer,Trophy Beer among others too numerous to mention,
No doubt,the consumers and distributors welcomed all the new brands with open hands as well as open mouths to consume.
Unfortunately,most of these brands could not stand the test of time while a closer scrutiny of that market category could only signal only Trophy Beer has been able to either survive the challenging times or live to get the desired loyalty expected of consumers that have undisturbed alternatives in Star,Harp,Goldberg,33 or Gulder that many would not abandon easiily.
As soon as Trophy was assumed to have taken over the South Western Markets in Ilesha,Akure,Ibadan,Oyo,
Ogbomoso,Abeokuta,Osogbo and others, Our editor,Akinwumi Dickson,then took his time out to chat with the then Commercial Director,SABMiller Nigeria who spoke on the stategies planned by the custodians of the brand to be the preferred choice beer in South West Nigeria.
