IoT Alliances Are Forming: Which Cryptographic Platform Is Invited To The Table?

For Joseph Pindar and many other IT professionals with a vision towards what's next, the current state of affairs is not sufficient to handle the Intrnet of Things. Joseph Pindar is Director of Data Protection Product Strategy of Gemalto, a cloud security expert who's company consulted for major financial and telecom companies to secure their foundation infrastructure. He and his co-founders of Trusted IoT Alliance realized there was more needed than the current infrastructure to secure and propel a world operating the Internet of Things.
The Mission for the Trusted IoT Alliance as stated on their website,

"To leverage blockchain infrastructure to secure and scale IoT ecosystems. IoT systems operating in heterogeneous and decentralized environments, and consisting of multiple administrative domains represent a challenge from the point of view of trust.

We seek to enable trust in the data produced by such IoT systems in a distributed ledger/blockchain agnostic fashion, thereby enabling a decentralized trust model for interoperable digitized identities of physical goods, documents, immobilized assets, sensors, and machines. Finally, we wish to see this happen with the resiliency that can scale to support billions of connected devices."

However, the Trused IoT Alliance's first partnership wasn't a blockchain based protocol, Neo or Ethereum, but IOTA's Tangle architecture.

The founding memebers of Trusted IoT Alliance clearly believed the blockchain technology was the primary solution for IoT development, however, IOTA is the first cryptocurrency platform to join the Alliance. There's room for Ethereum or the like to also join, but it's interesting to see the first mover.
This opportunity may need the employment of all technologies,or even brought together with platforms such as SuperNET or ARK.

Because IOTA began with Internet of Things as a primary target to service the reality of machine to machine micro transactions, fast data transfers, and creating the possibility for everything as a service, they are a natural fit.

In addition, IOTA's technology enables pure democratic trustless voting, masked messaging, and anything that needs a scalable ledger. IOTA also answers the most vexing problem of Bitcoin and all blockchain technologies (a primary reason for the Bitcoin Cash chain split) HIGH transaction fees. IOTA's focus is to keep zero fees for IOTA to IOTA wallet transactions.

The Trusted IoT Alliance was started in May of 2017, hopefully this nascent group of thinkers and builders will continue the open dialogue and collaborate on solutions to make new automated economies a reality.
